The thirteen digit number has a lot to offer other than the location

posted on 11 January 2012

You might be having an idea of where the isbn number is located but the truth is that you do not know how many digits are there or even so what these digits mean. The most important thing is not finding out the location of the isbn number and that's all, it is finding out the reason for the number and how it assists you as the owner of the book. The isbn of books is normally located at the back of the book, under bars and codes with up to thirteen digits that have been separated to represent information that can only be detected by a machine. The details that are shared under isbn are normally for machines and that is why they are detected as so. Keep your isbn details together and find out among the thirteen numbers which you should most importantly recall so that when you need to research for the book there are no complications arising over the same issue. Find out more about the isbn details instead of sticking to the location only as this is not that important.

LinkedIn: An Enthusiastic and Knowledgeable Professional Community

posted on 8 October 2011

LinkedIn has the potential to be a great networking tool. The benefits, though, are directly proportional to the time you invest in it. If you want to find someone who can carry out corporate brochure design for example, there's no better place to search than on LinkedIn's pages. There’s a lot of information to add to your profile. It’s helpful to attach a resume as well as a photograph, although recent research suggests that photos are more useful for good-looking men than for good-looking women, so keep this in mind before you post your photo. (See CBS’s Moneywatch.com’s “Want to Get a Job Interview? Pay Attention to Your Looks,” which suggests that a good-looking woman might be hindered by a photo on social networks or resumes, whereas photos of good-looking men are actually a boost in terms of obtaining employment or contacts.) LinkedIn is great for white-collar workers who need a piece of information from seasoned professionals in their area of expertise. I was researching digital conference recording systems, and a LinkedIn member gave me valuable information on a system she uses at work. It’s a great way to keep track of your former coworkers, should you need them for references or introductions to companies in which you are interested. And if I need an answer to any employment-related question, I can post it and automatically get feedback from people in various geographical areas. LinkedIn is always having cocktail-type parties and get-togethers, and I suspect the easiest way to get invited to these is to join a particular group within LinkedIn (which I have done). I have never been to any of these parties, but they do look like fun and I just may show up at an event one of these days.

Getting on the black books of the net

posted on 3 October 2011

Saving your best photos to show to the world can be very interesting. Even though sometimes I am left wondering what would happen if someone with bad intentions ended up with them. Call me superstitious or whatever you like, but there have been instances when people found their photos doing rounds in all the wrong forums. If you asked them what happened, they were dumbfounded and could not explain. What if you saved your best and then had them deleted by mistake. If Flickr deleted your photos and you had no other place where you saved them, would you sue them? But who would you bother suing as it may have been a technical fault that caused it in the first place? Perhaps you should just save your photos in your own computer at home and stop looking for other people's acceptance through them. When you accept that you look good, you don't have to get everyone else seconding you on that. Being vain about it is not going to help your cause if you want to remain anonymous.

Do you know the risk of allowing your facebook number on screen?

posted on 9 September 2011

It maybe true from what many people have experienced that facebook has a lot to enjoy. The activities and the fun pages existing therein are only an example of the things that can be enjoyed by the account holders. Yet it is also important to consider how you operate your account lest you fall in the trap of the negative aspects of the computer. There is more to enjoy in facebook for one who understand that it is simply a social network that should be used only during free times and not anyhow like many take it to be. One risk that you should avoid by all means is to put your facebook number on screen for every friend to see. The risk in this case comes when you begin receiving threat calls, and nagging calls among others. Therefore, to stay on the safe side, avoid trusting people too much on facebook because there are more surprises in associating very closely to them than you would think. The strange things that they will do to you may not be seen to you until that time when it will be too late to do something about it.

John Cisko: Contemporary American Sculptor from Seattle WA

posted on 8 January 2011

Being an art fanatic - from Banksy prints to the great Van Gogh - I just have to share this anecdote with you about John Cisko. When I first met John, I had only googled his name, browsed a couple website with his work on it and I was very impressed by what I saw. Upon meeting John, however, I was much more impressed by his work after talking to him about about the motifs and symbolism in his realistic sculptors. He truly is a contemporary master and one of the best sculptors currently working in the NW. His work has been featured at events and exhibitions across the US and he holds his own among artists from many fields now producing work in the US. His work at public installations is unrivaled and he has proven himself to be one of the most prominent sculptors in recent years. If you do not know who he is I challenge you to look him up, do a little research, and eventually reach out, maybe visit a gallery. You will not be unimpressed by his work and it just might blow you away.
