Importance of knowing about the internet before you become an it support person

Once in elementary school at tyne and wear county, I remember that we had parents come to talk to us about their careers. The one that I have never forgotten because I use the knowledge I learned till now, was about it support tyne and wear. The father of one of the students told us that in order to be one of the it people, we should be very conversant with the internet. Since we were in elementary school, he taught about the distinct services that were offered in the internet. He told us that without the internet, accessing our email would be a problem, something we did not know. We thought that email came from thin air. He told us for those who like sending and receiving emails, we should ensure that we have internet to make that possible. He then explained to us the meaning of world wide web. He told us that because of this web, we were able to get a lot of data from the internet especially when we use the different search browsers like Google and web. This made a lot of sense and if it were not for him, the I would have been very clue less when it came to the internet.
